Health and Medical Information on Smartphones

To Add Health and Medical information on your iPhone: (per google instructions)

  • The iPhone Health app allows you to type into your phone any important medical information (such
    as allergies, medical conditions, and emergency contacts) that can be accessed by first responders
    in an emergency or for you to show others you may need to communicate with.
  • Steps to set up your medical information Medical ID in the Health app:
    a. Open the Health app
    b. Tap on your profile picture in the top right
    c. Tap on : Medical ID > to open this section up
    d. Tap on: Get Started or Edit
    e. Then enter your information under : Medical conditions, Medical notes, Medications
    f. Tap on: + Add Emergency Contact
    g. Then add the names you want included as your emergency contacts
    h. In Edit screen when you scroll all the way to the bottom there is a Setting under “Emergency
    Access”: If you want your information to be able to be shared when your phone is on the
    locked screen: Where it says “Show when locked” you need to tap on circle to see green

If you have an Apple Watch that is paired to your iPhone,
when you set up your Medical ID in the Health app on your iPhone, that
information is also available on your Apple Watch.

 

To Add Health and Medical information on Android Phone: (per google instructions)

  • Option One:
    1. Open the Settings app
    2. Search for Emergency Information
    3. Tap Edit or the pencil/edit icon
    4. Enter medical details like:
    a. Allergies
    b. Medications
    c. Blood type
    d. Medical notes
    5. Add emergency contacts
    6. Save the information
  • Option two: Add medical information using the Safety app:
    1. Open the Safety app
    2. Sign in to your Google Account
    3. Tap Your info
    4. Tap Medical information
    5. Tap the item in the list you want to update
    6. Tap Emergency contacts
    7. Add contact and choose the existing contact you want to add
    8. Tap Emergency info access
    9. Tap Show when locked
  • Option Three: Download a specific medical ID app
    Android phones usually don’t have built-in health apps that allow you to create a
    Medical ID, but you can download a specific medical ID app from the Google Play
    Store.
